Architecture Design Studio 2
Project 1
Famous People, Famous Faces
DIAGRAMMATIC ABSTRACTION
The objective of this project is to investigate and explore how spaces are created from the making of architectural elements; architectonis, planes, lines and frames. The idea of using pure and diagrammatic models to express the architectural idea was also incorporated in the assignment.
This particular project gaves us the ablity to identify master architects and their works. Culture and History 2 aid us our investigation for the master architects. Moreover, we gained a better understanding of basic architectural composition of solids, planes, lines and frames. After the investigation our findings were formulated into a set of architectural models.

Project 2A
Pavillion at Kuala Selangor National Park
The aim of project 2A is to generate form and space through architectural conceptualisation, with emphasis on the user requirement and simple spatial organisation skills and site responding to develop an architectural proposition.
In a group of two, we were given a character (Taxi Driver) and a volume of 3x3x3m to design a pavillion at the kuala selangor national park for the purpose of contemplation. A series of freehand detail drawings and models were produced for the final submission.
This project showed us the importance of the art of crafting and making drawings and models as a critical desgn too as part of the design process

Project 2B
Retreat House at Kuala Selangor National Park
The objectives of this project are:
-
to inroduce the notion of concepts, program and process in the architectural design
-
to introduce students to the understanding of user specific design requirements
-
to introduce the notion of space, form and function in architectural design
-
to indroduce awareness of site specific desgn and the process of site analysis

The Task was to further develop project 2A into a retreat house on our own for a Taxi Driver.
To inittiate the preliminary conseptual approach of the design, (for Project 2A and 2B) we worked as a group to investigated and analysed a given site in the park. The site analysis was compiled to a presentation as a reference for the design process. A set of drawings and models were produced for the final presentation.
Project 2B extended our understanding on desing concept and process. It gave us to ability to interpret and analyse simpe site context, and clients character and needs in relation to the design of the building. Also, this project taught us to design a simple building type that meets user requirements and respect site context that balances both internal and external design values.
